We were burning money. Q4 2025 was the worst stretch we'd had in advertising. We were bleeding three kronor on every krona we put into ads while Meta and Google's dashboards kept telling us things were fine. We're self-funded. We knew they were lying. We just couldn't see where.
In October our ROAS was 0.68. By November it slipped to 0.44. In December, when we leaned into BFCM and pushed harder, we landed at 0.24. The platforms didn't sound worried. We were.
We brought in Yann at Digtective and within days the picture was clear at the campaign level, not the platform level. Our Brand Exact campaign was quietly returning 21.5x on a tiny budget. Caffeine-Free Energy, which both Meta and Google had been signalling as working, was returning 0.03x. Three Meta ASC prospecting campaigns running 29 ads between them had produced exactly two sales. The gap between our best and worst paid campaign was roughly 700x. None of that was visible in the aggregate. None of it was honest in Meta's reporting.
What made this possible wasn't just campaign-level data. Digger traces every conversion to the exact ad, keyword, and click chain that produced it, server-side, without gaps. That's a different class of visibility than anything the platforms offer, and it's why the 700x gap between our best and worst campaign was invisible until Digger made it not. We weren't looking at modeled estimates. We were looking at matched reality.
Yann walked us through the cuts. Caffeine-Free Energy, the failing prospecting stack, Brand Sverige with its refund-heavy returns: down or off. We protected and expanded Brand Exact. Symptom/Problem we kept running at near break-even on Yann's call, because the demand was real and we'd rather fix it than kill it.
The turn was fast. January 1.1x ROAS. February 1.7x. March 2.6x. April 5.1x, our strongest single month. May tracking the same. Across our Google paid channel year-to-date, blended ROAS is 2.6x. Revenue from that channel grew 164% January to April while we cut Google budget 42% over the same window. Capital efficiency improved roughly 4.5x in four months.
Across 2026 so far, Digger has tracked 620 conversions with 100% server-side attribution coverage. That means no cookie gaps, no iOS 14 blind spots, no modeled fill-ins. Every click chain matched to its source, paid or organic, all the way to the conversion that closed the sale.
This is what Digtective gave us that nothing else did. Meta and Google rate themselves. Shopify shows the sales. Neither tells you which click chain actually closed the loop. Digtective sits in the middle and tells you the truth: this ad, this keyword, this campaign brought you revenue. That one didn't. When the difference between your best and worst paid campaign is 700x, you cannot afford not to know.
